Oswego, N.Y. – While the final results weren’t what the John Nicotra Racing team had hoped for in Saturday night’s 31st Annual Mr. Supermodified race at Oswego Speedway, the team still placed both cars in the top 10 without incident in a fast, competitive race at the Steel Palace.

Otto Sitterly would start his No. 7 Nicotra Racing super in the ninth spot and improve one position to finish eighth, while Oswego points leader Dave Shullick Jr. would drive his Royal Purple / G&I Homes / Riccelli Northern / Nicotra Racing No. 2 to a 10th-place result after starting deep in the 23-car field.

Both Shullick and Sitterly remain first and second in the Oswego Novelis Supermodified point standings with only three points races remaining. Shullick is clear of Sitterly by 56.5 points and 81 markers ahead of third-place Michael Barnes.

Both drivers will now focus on one of the biggest winged supermodified weekends of the year – the Hy-Miler Nationals – this weekend, July 28-29, at Sandusky Speedway in Ohio. Shullick and Sitterly will be in action in the Jim Bodnar ISMA cars at Sandusky, which culminates with the Hy-Miler Nationals 100 on Saturday night, a race Shullick has won two years in a row.

Nicotra Racing will return to action at Oswego Saturday, August 5 with the annual retro night 45-lap feature, followed by two more regular-season races August 12 and August 19. A week off will bring the team to the final event of the Oswego season and the biggest race of the year – the Budweiser International Classic 200 on Sunday, September 3.
