Otto Sitterly and Dave Shullick Jr. each drove their Royal Purple / G&I Homes / Riccelli Northern / John Nicotra Racing supermodifieds to solid top-five finishes Saturday night, August 5, in the Old Timers Reunion / Retro Night 45-lap main event at Oswego Speedway.
Sitterly would start his blue and black No. 7 in the ninth position and advance to fourth by the checkered flag to net his fifth top-five result of 2017.
Shullick started 11th and would move up to round of the top-five in the P5 slot; the finish marked the Ohio driver’s seventh top-five finish this year and it also netted him a third consecutive Lighthouse Lanes Hard Charger Award and fourth of 2017.
Now, only two points races remain before the prestigious Budweiser International Classic 200 on Sunday, September 3. DJ and Otto are in great position to bring Nicotra Racing, Royal Purple and all our supporters a 1-2 finish in the 2017 Oswego Novelis Supermodified Points Championship.
DJ will enter the final two points races a formidable 52.5 markers ahead of teammate Otto, who sits 28.5 points ahead of third-place Keith Shampine and 35.5 points ahead of fourth-place Michael Barnes.
Veteran Oswego Speedway racer and three-time feature winner Pat Lavery would make his first start of the year Saturday behind the wheel of the No. 6 Nicotra Hawk chassis. Lavery would finish on the lead lap in 10th position after time trialing eighth and finishing third in his heat race.
Lavery will continue to drive the Royal Purple /G&I Homes / Nicotra 6 for the remainder of the Oswego supermodified season.
We’re back in action Saturday, August 12 and August 19 to close out the 2017 regular season.
