OSWEGO, N.Y. — Otto Sitterly scored his 37th Oswego Speedway feature win with John Nicotra Racing Saturday, June 3 in Round 2 of the 2023 ISMA / MSS / Oswego Novelis Supermodified Challenge.
A P4 finish in heat two locked Sitterly into a top-12 starting spot for the feature. A random pill draw determined the starting order for the $6,000-to-win main event and the Canajoharie, N.Y., driver got lucky, drawing the pole for the 50-lap feature.
When the nine-time track champion starts from the front row at Oswego, most aren’t going to bet against him.
Sitterly and his No. 7 CORR/PAK / Onyx Hose & Tube / Flip Electronics / La Parrilla on the Water Nicotra Racing super zoomed out to the lead when the green flag flew and would lead wire-to-wire in the no-caution main event. Canadian Mike Lichty followed Sitterly across the finish stripe with Ben Seitz P3.

“It was a good run,” Otto said after his fifth career ISMA feature win. “Just clean air helped us tonight. And getting up front and getting a good starting spot. The car seemed to be good. So I tried to be as aggressive as I could without wearing it out.”
The win places Sitterly and Nicotra third in the ISMA / MSS series point standings after two events. Vic Miller and Ben Seitz currently lead, 17 markers ahead of Nicotra and Otto.
It also gives Otto sole possession of fourth on Oswego’s all-time Supermodified win list with 46 wins between winged and non-winged races. Sitterly entered the season tied with Joe Gosek at 45 wins apiece. Overall, Otto owns 51 career supermodified feature wins — 46 at Oswego, two at Lorain, and one each at Sandusky, Jennerstown and Lee USA.
Nicotra Racing now has 49 Oswego Supermodified owner wins — second only to Jim Shampine.
The Nicotra team will return to Oswego this Saturday, June 10, for a regular Novelis Supermodified 50-lapper, where Alison Sload will be behind the wheel of the Nicotra No. 39 in search of her first win of the year.
Next up on the ISMA / MSS trail is the Super Crown Nationals doubleheader at Lorain Raceway Park in Northeast Ohio Friday and Saturday, June 16-17.
Nicotra Racing is proud to be sponsored by CORR/PAK Merchandising, Flip Electronics, Onyx Hose & Tube Inc., La Parrilla On The Water, 5 Brothers Produce, Burnac Produce and Peacefull Living Home Sales.
